My Priorities for Brunel Ward
Practical solutions. Responsible decisions. A strong community.
My priorities start with listening.
Brunel Ward is a wonderful place to live, and I want to help keep it that way. As our community grows and changes, we need thougthful, responsible decisions that protect what we love while addressing the real challenges residents are facing today.
These priorities are a starting point, and they will continue to be shaped by the people who live here.
01 - Affordability & Responsible Spending
Keeping Huntsville affordable for the people who call it home.
Rising costs are affecting everyone - from young people trying to get established, to families managing household expenses, to seniors living on fixed incomes. Municipal taxes are part of that picture.
I believe Council has a responsibility to carefully examine how taxpayer dollars are being spent, look for efficiencies, and make thoughtful decisions about where our money goes. Growth is important, but it needs to be responsible and financially sustainable.
Residents deserve to know they are getting good value for their tax dollars.
02 - Housing & Keeping People in Our Community
Creating more housing options for young adults, families and seniors.
It has become one of the biggest challenges facing our community. Young adults who grew up here are struggling to afford rent or buy their first home. Families are feeling squeezed and seniors are looking for affordable options that allow them to remain in the community they know and love.
I want to support practical solutions that increase housing choices - including secondary dwelling units, attainable housing options, responsible development, and partnerships that can help create attainable housing without losing the character that makes Huntsville and Brunel Ward special.
People shouldn’t have to leave the community they love simply because they can no longer afford to live here.
03 - Responsible Growth & Protecting What We Love
Welcoming growth while protecting the character of our community.
Huntsville is growning, and growth can bring new opportunities, new neighbours and a stronger local economy. But as we grow, we need to make sure our infrastructure, services and planning keep pace.
I believe development should be thoughtful and responsible, with infrastructure and services keeping pace with growth, while respecting our natural environment and character of our neighbourhoods. Protecting our lakes, forests and dark skies should remain part of the conversation as desicions about future growth are made.
We can welcome progress without losing what makes Brunel Ward such a special place to call home.
04 - Roads, Infrastructure & Rural Services
Taking care of basics that residents rely on every day.
Living in Brunel Ward means that roads, bridges, snow removal, safe intersections, reliable cell service and other essential services matter. These may not always be the most exciting issues, but they have a direct impact on our daily lives.
I want to listen to residents about the areas that need attention and advocate for practical improvements, while making sure infrastructure spending is planned carefully and responsibly.
Good local government starts with getting the basics right.
05 - Listening, Accessibility & Community Voice
Making sure residents have a voice in the decisions that affect them.
Good local government starts with listening. Residents know their roads, neighborhoods, and communities better than anyone, and their experiences should help inform the decisions Council makes.
I want to be an accessible counsellor who listens, asks questions and communicates openly. Whether someone has a major concern or simply an idea that could make their neighbourhood better, they deserve to feel comfortable reaching out and know that their voice matters.
You may not always get the answer you hoped for, but you should always feel heard, respected, and represented.
Your Voice Matters
These priorities are a starting point - not the end of the conversation.
My priorities will continue to be shaped by the people who live here. I want to hear what is working, what isn't, and what you believe deserves more attention in Brunel Ward.
