Meet Kirsty

I’m Kirsty Koop - a Huntsville resident, wife, mom, small-business owner, community volunteer, and someone who genuinely loves where we live.

Over the years, my life has taken me through small-business ownership, non-profit and community work, leadership, caregiving, and working directly with people and families. I’ve met people from many different walks of life, and those experiences have taught me the value of hard work, compassion, common sense and getting things done.

I’m naturally a people person. I enjoy conversations, I ask questions, and I’m generally interested in what matters most to the people around me. When something needs doing, you roll up your sleeves and get to work.

That combination of people and practicality is a big part of who I am - and a big part of why I decided to run for Town Council.

Brunel Is Home

Brunel Ward isn’t just where I’m running - it’s home.

I live in the heart of Brunel Ward with my husband, Mike and two of our grown kids. This is where we’ve built our life, raised our family, worked, volunteered and become deeply connected to our community.

I love living in Brunel Ward. We have beautiful lakes, forests and rural communities, but what matters most to me are the people who call this area home..

But I also see the challenges. The cost of living is rising, housing is increasingly difficult for young people, families and seniors. Our community is growing and our roads, infrastructure and services need to keep pace while we protect the natural beauty and character that make this such a special place.

I want Brunel Ward to remain a place where people can love living - and can afford to stay here.

The Kind of Councillor I Want to Be

I believe good representation starts with being present, prepared and accessible.

I won’t pretend to have every answer. I will ask questions, do my homework, look carefully at the information in front of me, and take the concerns of Brunel residents seriously.

I want people to feel comfortable reaching out - whether we agree or not - and to know they will be heard and treated with respect. and when decisions are made, I believe residents deserve to understand why.

If elected, I will work hard to be a thoughtful, practical and approachable voice for Brunel Ward. I will never forget who I am there to represent.
